The instructor for LIS 545 told us that by the end of the course we would be "front-eers" or front-end web designers. We learned how to design user interfaces that were usable and attractive. Throughout we programmed with XHTML, CSS, Javascript and XML, and we also learned about topics like accessibility and the Semantic Web. During this class our projects ranged from imitating the design of a Martha Stewart page to using Javascript to make a bouncing ball to learning about AJAX and JSON. The class culminated in a final essay, titled "FBML: headache or evolution?", in which I discuss the pros and cons of the new Facebook Markup Language.
