When Luke Wroblewski describes small multiples, he means smaller areas within a webpage that appear identical, but have different information within them. They are small to allow users to make quick and easy comparisons when viewing data.

In another article, Wroblewski speaks to the importance of the invisible elements of web page design. These include padding and whitespace for the most part, which can be ignored at times, but contribute greatly to user interaction.
