How-To

This idea comes from DIY-Maven at Curbly, who shows how to create the Shabby chic distressed look on a wooden picture frame. First you paint the frame in a "peek-a-boo color" such as beige or cream. When dry, apply petroleum jelly to the parts that should look worn, such as corners or edges. Then rub those areas with steel wool to take the paint off. Finally, apply a few coats of a water-based poly (sanding in-between), to protect from wear and tear. Use this on your frames, cabinets, dressers--anything!
