Facebook’s Janky New Icon

Ok so everytime Facebook changes something, people tend to either immediately hate it or love it. Its pretty much factionalism at its best. This change snuck up on me but I would fall into the category of “hate it.”  On the news feed Facebook now has a janky (yes that’s the best way to decribe its shoddy design) icon to denote “city” or “current location.” When I first looked at it I thought, “What is that squiggly set of dark lines next to the area I live in?” Then when I looked closer I realized it was supposed to be a set of city buildings. Here is picture evidence:

They might as well put Godzilla in the background. I have made some bad icons in the past, such as a medical journal that looked like a Bible, but I am not a graphic designer, and Facebook should know better. Skyscrapers are not necessarily a universal symbol for people to represent the place in which they live. A globe might be better, this icon just annoys me and makes me not want to log into Facebook.

Going to Portland and the Oregon coast for 4th of July, should be fun!
