I love going to Oregon, the rolling hills and green-ness remind me of the UK, Scotland especially. Nicole, Kyle, Colette, and I went to visit Eddie who just bought a house in Hillsboro (near Intel where he works). We had a BBQ, played a lot of Wii (Nicole hadn’t ever played before…shocking these days), saw Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, and ate at a “dinerant“, and watched fireworks over the Willamette River.

For some reason Eddie and I like to point out incongruities in the things around us and take them to a ridiculous extreme. One of which was that the Wii game we kept playing is called Dr. Mario Online Rx, and its like Tetris with pills. Yet, there are no characters from Super Mario Bros., there’s just people in lab coats who jump around or cry depending on the outcome of the game. Why its Dr. Mario is still a mystery. Then in Transformers 2, “The Fallen” referred to one Decepticon, even though it sounds plural, Megan Fox wears ridiculous heels everywhere until suddenly she has boots, and evilness is apparently associated with bad teeth.

Our main discussion focused on the Portland light rail, the MAX, on which a voice gave helpful information like “The doors will open on my left.” Eddie and I could not agree on whether this was supposed to be the train talking or a voice representing the driver. I like to think it was the driver, but Eddie said that the driver could potentially be standing facing backwards, so it had to be the train. Either way its weird to say “my” instead of “the.” Yes we are nerds, but overall, good times.

P.S. apologies for the picture quality, I need a digital camera or a better camera phone.
